Saratoga History
Saratoga County is home to a couple of the most historically important events and locations in the Nation.
About a half hour away from the gorgeous backdrops of Malta is the Saratoga National Historical Park. It is here where the Battle of Saratoga took place in 1777, where an American victory over British soldiers became the turning point of the Revolutionary War and subsequently one of the most decisive battles in world history. Not far from the Battlefield is the restored country home of Major General Philip Schuyler. Throughout the summer, guided tours are available from Wednesdays though Sundays. The Saratoga Monument, a 155-foot obelisk built in honor of the American victory at the Battle of Saratoga is also within the Park grounds.
Currently, Malta is a thriving community thanks to its highly acclaimed school systems, active Community Center and economy-driving businesses. The continued construction of GLOBALFOUNDRIES, a world-class provider in semi-conductor technology, inside of the Luther Forest Technology Campus will only lead to bigger and better advantages for the already impressive town.
